Vegas Hot Spots: Matcha House Tea and Sweets

I'm back with another hot spot! Not sure how many of these I'll keep doing, but I thought this deserved a shout-out ;)

I always try to avoid getting excess Starbucks or spending money on fancy drinks, but let's face it, it has never worked out. I LOVE me some fancy drinks, so much that my fridge consists of more liquids than actual food!

I recently ventured to Matcha House Tea and Sweets, a brand new hot spot down in Henderson, NV and they instantly had me hooked! Here are some details if you're looking for a savory spot with the trendiest drinks:

What is it?

Matcha House is a place that sells, well, Matcha drinks! Not only that, but they do sell Matcha based desserts, sweets and a few snacks on their menu too. If you're not familiar with Matcha, you should be. It is all the rage these days! It's basically powdered green tea leaves that you can put on top of drinks, in drinks, etc. People say that Matcha can give you 3 times more caffeine than regular green tea because instead of infusing the tea in water, you are actually consuming the tea leaf itself. I definitely believe the caffeine part, considering I got this drink at 5pm one time and couldn't fall asleep at 3 am... #mistakes. Here is an article that will tell you more on Matcha if you want to know specifics.

What Do I Get?

I'll be honest guys, I've only gotten one drink at this place because I simply can't get enough of it! I get the Imperial Matcha Tea with Tiramisu Mousse sweetened at 75%. Sounds complicated, right? That's what I thought, but it's essential an iced green tea with the most delicious, creamy mousse mixture on top that sinks down into your drinks for the perfect blend of hearty and happy! (you can get different levels of sweetness to your tea, and 75% instead of 100% sweetness makes me feel a LITTLE bit better).

How's the Price?

Not going to lie to you guys, it's pretty steep. The tea I get is the most expensive on the menu, and added with the mousse on top, my order comes out to $7.58. Now to me, that sounds like a lot, especially because a cheeseburger and fries from In-n-out is $4.65! But I would say it's definitely fair for the ingredients (Matcha is pretty pricey) and the size of your drink (which is slightly around or even larger than the size of a trenta from Starbucks). Is it an everyday go-to however? No.

Why Do I Love It?

I love this place for 3 simple reasons. It's delicious, it's fun and pretty healthy too (depending on what you get of course). Since this is a local place and not a chain, I failed to find any nutrition facts for the menu, however Matcha delivers a generous amount of caffeine and health benefits that you can justify almost any of their Matcha drinks to be good for you.

As for the desserts? They're probably not healthy, but this place is literally meant for serving a crazy new style of drinks and desserts that are sure to leave you feeling refreshed and just generally, happy. I'm all about places who's products are purely meant for enjoyment, and there is always groups of friends there just hanging out and enjoying what they have to offer, so I say the deal is pretty sweet.

Overall, is this place a necessity? No. But one Tiramisu Matcha later, and you'll sure be craving it for a long time coming! I appreciate the creativity of this business, the cleanliness of the spot, and the quality of the drinks and I love to treat myself with something that is not only semi good for me, but delicious and trendy too ;)

If you don't believe the hype, just check out the Yelp review here. But to all my locals (comment below if you actually live in Vegas and are reading this!) you definitely should try it out and invite me along with you ;)

Vegas Hot Spots: Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat

We're back with the Vegas hotspots! But this time, we're doing it a little bit differently ;)

This past Labor day weekend, Kareem and I decided to celebrate on the strip, and what better way to spend the day off than with Dolphins and Tigers? We ventured into the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage hotel and you can see for yourself how it was!

Thinking about heading to Vegas for a quick trip but not trying to get too crazy or spend too much money? Access to the habitat was only $22 and prices go up from there if you want a fancy VIP tour or to play with the Dolphins!

Oh yeah, and there was a pretty cool appearance from Siegfried himself. Take a look!

Want to see more Vegas hotspots? I mean, of course you do! Go ahead and subscribe to my channel and thumbs up the video and maybe, just maybe I'll try and find some more ;)

Top Michael Kors Bag for Summer

Well this is new ;)

I just recently got myself a "big girl job" so I (and Kareem) treated myself to my first "big girl" purchase, a NEW "big girl" purse and wallet ;)

This past week I visited the Las Vegas Premium Outlets on South LV boulevard and I'm telling you guys, these outlets are something else.

I had full intentions on going Kate Spade but... Michael Kors (and our lovely saleswoman Vanessa) called differently!

Vanessa showed me the newest releases for the Michael Kors outlets and holy BEAUTIFUL did they call my name!

I bought the newest Jet Set Large Metallic Leather Crossbody in Rose Gold!

Our saleswoman Vanessa (oh so conveniently) found the matching flat wallet to go with it as well and I haven't quit staring at them ever since!

Do you love Michael Kors? Are outlet stores the best thing that's ever happened to you?? Comment below on some of your favorite outlet purchases!

Thank you Vanessa for all your help! We did good ;)

Vegas Hot Spots: Lindo Michoacan

Oh lordy guys this week is a good one!

We have found a couple Mexican restaurants around we absolutely LOVE, but it's all been super "authentic" Mexican food (aka, stuff you'd probably eat in Mexico)

Which was amazing! But Kareem and I kinda missed the mid tier Mexican we've grown up on (El Rods is what I mean to all my Blacksburg fam) Now, we have the perfect place ;)

Lindo Michoacan

The restaurant itself is absolutely AMAZING! There are a couple around, but we went to the one in La Loma in Henderson. (2655 E Desert Inn Road
Las Vegas, NV 89121)

The view was absolutely amazing of the city, and fantastic lighting for my selfies ;)  (pictures at the end)

Incredible of course! When we came in we had to wait around 15 or 20 minutes to get sat because it was super crowded and we didn't have reservations.

We had two different waiters come around for us, one to get our drinks and one who took our orders for food. We probably had two because we were also in an area with a party of like 20 people, so he probably came around to help the other waiter out.

Our food came out in a good amount of time for the restaurant being completely full. I believe we waited around 10-15 minutes for the food to come out.

Oh my lord have mercy it was SO good! They started us off with chips, salsa and bean dip (which was quite unexpected!)

Kareem got a chicken and fajita burrito that was the size of my forearm and I got the taco and chili releno combo. It was WAY more food than we both ever expected and we enjoyed every bite.

This was the type of mid tier Mexican restaurant we were looking for but the food was definitely not mid tier. It tasted authentic but was also the exact type I was looking for (not sure if it made sense, but it was a lot tastier than I thought!)

Pretty good for the amount of food you get! There are some pricier items, some cheaper but all worth it in my opinion. Our margs were $9 each so their drinks were a bit pricey outside of happy hour, however if we just went for food the bill wouldn't have been more than around $25 which is a good price for two people.

We would go back if we wanted to have a nice dinner together, but if you're looking for something quick and cheap I would find another restaurant!

SO fun! We went on a Friday night so it was probably a bit more popping than any other normal day. There was live music from a solo guitarist and their birthday celebrations were hype too! One guy even got 3 tequila shots!

I've been wanting to go back every day since we've gone. I think that sums it up :)
