Vegas Hot Spots: Matcha House Tea and Sweets

I'm back with another hot spot! Not sure how many of these I'll keep doing, but I thought this deserved a shout-out ;)

I always try to avoid getting excess Starbucks or spending money on fancy drinks, but let's face it, it has never worked out. I LOVE me some fancy drinks, so much that my fridge consists of more liquids than actual food!

I recently ventured to Matcha House Tea and Sweets, a brand new hot spot down in Henderson, NV and they instantly had me hooked! Here are some details if you're looking for a savory spot with the trendiest drinks:

What is it?

Matcha House is a place that sells, well, Matcha drinks! Not only that, but they do sell Matcha based desserts, sweets and a few snacks on their menu too. If you're not familiar with Matcha, you should be. It is all the rage these days! It's basically powdered green tea leaves that you can put on top of drinks, in drinks, etc. People say that Matcha can give you 3 times more caffeine than regular green tea because instead of infusing the tea in water, you are actually consuming the tea leaf itself. I definitely believe the caffeine part, considering I got this drink at 5pm one time and couldn't fall asleep at 3 am... #mistakes. Here is an article that will tell you more on Matcha if you want to know specifics.

What Do I Get?

I'll be honest guys, I've only gotten one drink at this place because I simply can't get enough of it! I get the Imperial Matcha Tea with Tiramisu Mousse sweetened at 75%. Sounds complicated, right? That's what I thought, but it's essential an iced green tea with the most delicious, creamy mousse mixture on top that sinks down into your drinks for the perfect blend of hearty and happy! (you can get different levels of sweetness to your tea, and 75% instead of 100% sweetness makes me feel a LITTLE bit better).

How's the Price?

Not going to lie to you guys, it's pretty steep. The tea I get is the most expensive on the menu, and added with the mousse on top, my order comes out to $7.58. Now to me, that sounds like a lot, especially because a cheeseburger and fries from In-n-out is $4.65! But I would say it's definitely fair for the ingredients (Matcha is pretty pricey) and the size of your drink (which is slightly around or even larger than the size of a trenta from Starbucks). Is it an everyday go-to however? No.

Why Do I Love It?

I love this place for 3 simple reasons. It's delicious, it's fun and pretty healthy too (depending on what you get of course). Since this is a local place and not a chain, I failed to find any nutrition facts for the menu, however Matcha delivers a generous amount of caffeine and health benefits that you can justify almost any of their Matcha drinks to be good for you.

As for the desserts? They're probably not healthy, but this place is literally meant for serving a crazy new style of drinks and desserts that are sure to leave you feeling refreshed and just generally, happy. I'm all about places who's products are purely meant for enjoyment, and there is always groups of friends there just hanging out and enjoying what they have to offer, so I say the deal is pretty sweet.

Overall, is this place a necessity? No. But one Tiramisu Matcha later, and you'll sure be craving it for a long time coming! I appreciate the creativity of this business, the cleanliness of the spot, and the quality of the drinks and I love to treat myself with something that is not only semi good for me, but delicious and trendy too ;)

If you don't believe the hype, just check out the Yelp review here. But to all my locals (comment below if you actually live in Vegas and are reading this!) you definitely should try it out and invite me along with you ;)

Vegas Hot Spots: Lindo Michoacan

Oh lordy guys this week is a good one!

We have found a couple Mexican restaurants around we absolutely LOVE, but it's all been super "authentic" Mexican food (aka, stuff you'd probably eat in Mexico)

Which was amazing! But Kareem and I kinda missed the mid tier Mexican we've grown up on (El Rods is what I mean to all my Blacksburg fam) Now, we have the perfect place ;)

Lindo Michoacan

The restaurant itself is absolutely AMAZING! There are a couple around, but we went to the one in La Loma in Henderson. (2655 E Desert Inn Road
Las Vegas, NV 89121)

The view was absolutely amazing of the city, and fantastic lighting for my selfies ;)  (pictures at the end)

Incredible of course! When we came in we had to wait around 15 or 20 minutes to get sat because it was super crowded and we didn't have reservations.

We had two different waiters come around for us, one to get our drinks and one who took our orders for food. We probably had two because we were also in an area with a party of like 20 people, so he probably came around to help the other waiter out.

Our food came out in a good amount of time for the restaurant being completely full. I believe we waited around 10-15 minutes for the food to come out.

Oh my lord have mercy it was SO good! They started us off with chips, salsa and bean dip (which was quite unexpected!)

Kareem got a chicken and fajita burrito that was the size of my forearm and I got the taco and chili releno combo. It was WAY more food than we both ever expected and we enjoyed every bite.

This was the type of mid tier Mexican restaurant we were looking for but the food was definitely not mid tier. It tasted authentic but was also the exact type I was looking for (not sure if it made sense, but it was a lot tastier than I thought!)

Pretty good for the amount of food you get! There are some pricier items, some cheaper but all worth it in my opinion. Our margs were $9 each so their drinks were a bit pricey outside of happy hour, however if we just went for food the bill wouldn't have been more than around $25 which is a good price for two people.

We would go back if we wanted to have a nice dinner together, but if you're looking for something quick and cheap I would find another restaurant!

SO fun! We went on a Friday night so it was probably a bit more popping than any other normal day. There was live music from a solo guitarist and their birthday celebrations were hype too! One guy even got 3 tequila shots!

I've been wanting to go back every day since we've gone. I think that sums it up :)

Vegas Hot Spots: Tea Lounge at Mandarin Oriental

Well... we went SUPER bougie this weekend thanks to my boyfriends brother Kobie.

We visited the Tea Lounge at Mandarin Oriental for some afternoon tea and apparently, had the last reservation for the summer. (yeah, you need reservations for this place)

Let me just give you a basic rundown...

The Menu

There was quite a few options, including endless mimosas for $25, other food items and a LOT of tea, but we decided to get the basic afternoon tea spread. This came with 3 plates of finger foods (no, I cannot even tell you what the items were because they were so fancy, except for the "scones"), and your choice of tea (free refills, yay).

The food was here and there.. a few items were SO delicious and a few were so odd, I didn't know what I was eating and were quite, gross... but I think the good definitely outweighed the bad.

There were SO many types of teas, but we decided to get "Mandarin Blossoms" which was a type of green tea and it was the most amazing tea I've ever had in my life!

We also ordered two cupcakes and they were SOOO good. One was red velvet and the other tasted almost like birthday cake. Were they worth the $5 each? I would say definitely.

Take a look at our spread here

I have literally no other words for this place except for bougie! Haha, the view was incredible of the strip, it was quiet with nice music but could talk normally, it was intimate and we sat on comfy chairs and a couch. Over all the place was extremely relaxing.

However, since it was so bougie, we DEFINITELY felt out of place. At least Kareem and I did, lol

Our server was fantastic and made us feel very welcome so no problems there! She was also very educated on the menu and the items.

Would I Go Back?

Ehhh.... I'm not sure, lol. It was VERY expensive for such little items. The tea was probably the best tea I've ever had in my life, but... I still don't think it was worth it for my budget. Keep in mind! I just graduated college and am starting a full time job next week! So the budget has to stay low for now. However, there ARE cheaper options I would go back for, but still... I'll let you know after 6 months into my job.

BUT, if I were trying to impress somebody or make someone bougie feel right at home, this is the place. Or if I had just gotten a massage and wanted to relax more, I would go back. This place was BEYOND relaxing, upscale and fancy so worth it if you're coming to Vegas to live bougie.

So after all that, I'm not sure if I can label this as a hot spot since one set of afternoon tea was like $40 I think, BUT, if you are looking to appear EXTRA fancy and bougie and just... extra in general, this is your spot.

Vegas Hot Spots: Egg Works

Welcome to the new section of my blog! Since I live in Vegas now, I thought I'd show you guys around ;)

I want to visit as many Vegas hot spots as possible incase you guys ever want to come visit me!

First stop: brunch at Egg Works!

Some of you east coasters may know this as the Egg and I, but I have never heard of this place until I moved here, so check out what I got!

There are plenty in Vegas, but the one Kareem and I went to was on South Eastern Avenue!

Fantastic! I can't speak for all locations, but the staff at this location were absolutely amazing! They were SO nice, timely, fast and the whole place was very clean.

Two different ladies even commented on how much they loved my Nora NYC McGee Shades ;)

Holy incredible! I got the stuffed French Toast (unstuffed). It came with 2 THICK slices of french toast, covered in powdered sugar with a side of syrup, cheesy eggs, two slices of bacon (ham or sausage, whichever you prefer) AND their signature Habla Diabla potatoes, which were my FAVORITE part. I ate them literally immediately all at once and went back to buy the seasoning! *pictures down below of course!

Our server Alexa was SO nice that she even let Kareem and I each have one of there banana nut muffins since it was our first time there and he couldn't decide between that and toast. I swear that was the best banana nut muffin I've ever had in my entire life, no lie!

We of course didn't expect it to be cheap since we both got mimosas too (which were also incredible), but for the amount of food you get and the quality and taste, the price is DEFINITELY worth it. My meal (without the mimosa) was around $11 I believe, and I had enough leftovers for breakfast the next day.

So not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but something in between!

A+++ I want to make this our signature Sunday brunch spot but... of course I have to try more places for you guys ;) But if you're ever in town and want to try this out, let me know and I will gladly join ;)

Thank you Egg Works on South Eastern staff! You guys made our Sunday completely!
